About Us

The Parson Russell Terrier is often mistaken for a Jack Russell Terrier, the most noticeable difference being that the Parson is longer in the leg.

The two breeds are very similar, with the only difference being which breeding stock is thought to have been used.

They were bred by Parson John (Jack) Russell, but it is believed that his sister was also selling similar dogs.

The Parson Russell Terrier is thought to represent the true standard and is used in shows, whilst the Jack Russell Terrier is mainly a working dog - hence the two different breed names.

Descended from Fox Terriers, Parsons to this day display strong working instincts.  They are energetic and friendly with a balanced temperament that makes them suitable as pets.

Due to their strong hunting instincts they are not suited to living with smaller pets such as mice or rabbits.

Although we are originally from Scotland, we relocated to the West of Ireland in 2007.

A few years ago at a field show for lurchers and terriers, we came across Jack Russells of the leggy persuasion and fell for their looks straight away.  We started searching for a suitable dog and found the Parson Russell Terrier was what we were looking for.

I've owned Lurchers and Terriers for  use in hunting.

Above is a picture of myself and Fagan (now retired) who is a 1/8 Bearded Collie, 1/8 Border Collie & 3/4 Greyhound Hancock Dog.

With our first bitch Amber, we had fun entering into the world of showing.

We currently enjoy all aspects of owning & showing these wonderful little dogs and the experience of their co-habitation.
